WHO ARE WE?

Krucopia is an unconventional creative hub that not only hosts an array of exhibitions and workshops but also commissions and collaborates on projects with emerging artists. We aim to create awareness for new talent arising in the arena of the fine arts to art lovers and collectors. We endorse the visual arts in a plethora of mediums from women of all walks of life but predominantly focusing our attention on young emerging artists to exhibit. We encourage a hands-on approach with curating their own shows and talking directly with their audience. We host residences for our exhibiting artists so that they can continue their practice in our environment surrounded by their works whilst meeting and engaging in dialogue with passers by and potential collectors about their process to familiarise themselves with vocalising their practice.

We want to elevate and assist in laying a strong foundation up- on which our artists can build. To enable and activate their voice in order to continue forth in their careers with confidence.

‘A home for artists and a house of Art.’We have been etching stories both in word and pigment since the dawn of man as a way to preserve culture, maintain custom and perpetuate the knowledge we continuously gather. Be it from the mouths of our elders, or the hands of artists that paint stories of myth with colourful creatures that symbolise those whom the tales were about. We look toward imagery as a way to identify who we are and where we have come from. Art reflects the time in which we live, it expresses what is and was important to us as a collective as well as immortalises our ideals in colour and and mark for the future generations to decipher. It is a direct link to the consciousness of humanity therefore it needs contribution from every culture, gender, class and race to gather a thorough idea of who we are as a people.

With that in mind, we felt that the stories and art of women to be missing tremendously from history and we wanted to rectify that going forward. We want to make sure to document and discover women who have a worthy contribution to make toward society and the art world in general. We want to support these women as artists so they can continue to create, especially now in such precarious times.

Krucopia is a community focused on women within the visual arts.

We endeavour to inspire and teach with our content. Each woman has a story to tell and knowledge to share via their life and practice, we wish to to be a place where women can speak freely and openly about themselves. Our main undertaking is to build a cornucopia of women who can network, share, teach, work, collaborate and inspire each other under one roof.

The Platform

KRUCOPIA wishes to forge a community based upon unique vision, raw talent and artistic flair. We strive to uncover the unknown internal landscapes of such people with intimate interviews, podcasts, dedicated pages to stylistically honour each artist as well as a pronounced insight into each and every woman. We only wish to promulgate those involved to a wider audience and illuminate those we feel deserve more recognition for who they are and what they do.

This platform is to feature specifically women creators within the photography, illustration and fine art sectors, whom have not necessarily had a formal education in Art (however not specific to this), women who have a natural proclivity and aptitude for art. Whose ideas have not been shaped by the academy they attended. We want to support these artists and wish to know more about the practice of such women. Women who have gone against the grain and forged a life via their art and vision. Stories that are told as they unfold.

We want to create a rapport with others in the hope we can create inspired and relatable content and spark conversations with like minds. We are also very aware that much of the Art world is dominated by men at current (although the shift is upon us) and their conversations which we felt were very one sided, not to mention the fact the art world can often feel antiquated and impenetrable at times to the average person. We want a place where we are all on the same playing field and artists can speak and know those who appreciate and adore the work personally. As artists ourselves we felt it was time to create a space which if tended to correctly can grow and blossom into an alternative way of seeing and purchasing art.
