ELIANE CASTELAR

PAINTER

Eliane is a half-Catalan and half-English artist currently living in Barcelona. At 18 years old, she moved to Amsterdam where she studied Liberal Arts, and Cultural Analysis.

She is predominantly a self-taught artist. Since a young age, she has had a love for drawing and experimenting with a variety of art disciplines but only started painting seriously in 2020.

Eliane taught herself to use acrylics and then followed with oils, to complement her autodidactic training, she has attended several short courses at different art institutes, such as La Massana and the Barcelona Art Academy in Barcelona and Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.

In her work she captures the fleshiness of human bodies and the characters in her works are often described as having an eerie or gloomy tone to them.

Eliane uses found pieces of wood and cardboard as canvases for her art for both practical and political reasons and has exhibited a collection of most of this paintings in our gallery Krucopia.
